STREET MACHINES NATIONALS, A FEAST FOR THE EYES, EARS AND NOSE. I grew up with the SMN’s and was really let down to see it leave. People were upset that the town was trashed after the show,but these are the same people that rented their yards out during the weekend? Look at the profit…I believe special events or who ever was in charge took in over 12million dollars on the fairgrounds alone in a single weekend! That seems like it would be a big income for Duqoine as a whole. I went to Joliet the next year and being blunt,it blew big time! No cruising, and the cops were jerks even to onlookers. BRING IT BACK! BRING IT BACK!

Yeah, went to SMN from ’80 to Lima OH.,didn’t miss a year.I couldn’t sleep the week before SMN ! Like Thom said about Joliet, some pro-street cars even had “JOLIET SUCKS” on their back window sunday at the awards (what few people were there). How about a power tour to DUQOIN !!!

Power Tour was there in 2010.. It was real nice to see the fairgrounds filled with the old hot rods and modern muscle too!

I started going to the Nats in 1982 as a spectator. I had a great time but didn’t get the full effect until I became a participant. I started entering cars in the show in 1985 with a 70 Dodge Challenger. In 1991 I competed in the ProStreet competition with my blown, injected Hemi 69 Daytona Charger. What an experience! I had a blast and would love to do it again!
